Posctard Binder

I played a little more with the photo I altered earlier on, and then I added it to a digital layout. I will use it as the cover of a mini binder that I am working on with postcards of places that we travel to, so one day my daughter not only has a whole lot of real photos, but also a postcard of the places she´s visited. Don´t know if she´ll be excited about this or completely indifferent, at least I am excited about creating it.

Incredible Enhancements

Are you sometimes facing the same problem? You want to take this amzing portrait of your children but there is no time to plan or make it a good photo, all you have time for is to point and shoot in automatic. That´s what happened to me the other day on a children´s birthday party. The light from the large windows was backlighting my daughter´s face beautifully, so I took the camera ... and did not pay attention to the busy background. I needed to find a way to improve the photo, and thanks to my mom who gave me this amazing 500-page book on digital photography for Christmas (which came with software included), I was able to play a little bit with the photo. I am even planning to do a layout with it. What do you think, isn´t the result amazing?

Coffee Table Book

Last weekend I picked up my latest photo book with all my favourite pictures of 2009. The book is XL size and has more than a hundred pages - and I love it. I created four books for ourselves in 2009 and a couple of books for the family. 2009 has a few pages per month documenting the highlights, and the other three books are about our travels to the South of France, Spain and Egypt respectively. Let me share a couple of impressions of the 2009 book with you.

What better way to start this blog than to start with food! Carnival is celebrated in many different ways throughout the world, and there are special food items that are only available during the Carnival period. Today I made Orejas de Carnaval (Carnival Ears) which is a typical Galician receipe. Easy to make, and a delicious crisp snack.

All you need is
* 375gr flour
* 3 eggs
* 50 gr butter
* 150 gr sugar
* some salt and some tepid water
* a teaspoon of yeast
* a bit of aniseed brandy (or aniseed spices used for Christmas cookies > that´s what I used)
Mix the ingredients, leave to rest for about 25 minutes. Take little portions of the dough and form mini pancakes (can be round or oval or just torn pieces of dough). Fry in hot oil. When cold, sprinkle with confectioners sugar (cinnamon is optional). Enjoy!

Guten Appetit!
