ScrapTheMag Challenge #11 Winner

I am very happy to have been awarded a second place in ScrapTheMag´s Challenge #11. Thank you ladies!!

Man sieht einfach keinen Unterschied. Versuch macht klug!

This is my layout for the first sketch by the Sketchladies. A layout without patterned paper, only stamps and washi tape. I stamped the background using a doodling template and gave it color and structure by using different embossing powders and glitter glue. The rest are either bought or self-made washi tapes. Yes, it is possible to make your own. I simple took a Glue Dot masking tape and stamped on it. Super result. Only applying embossing poweder didn't work out, when peeling the masking tape off my work mat all the embossing peeled off ... well,  at least I  tried! Here is my layout.

Scrap365 Magazine

This is the layout I submitted to Scrap365Magazine for their January sketch. This was a real challenge and I started all over again a few times. Actually, the first layout was very different and I submitted it to ScrapArtZine for their black and white LO requests. The problem here was that I stayed very close to the sketch, something that caused me a lot of headache. Here is the layout:

My first Tag

I have never made a tag. That is, until last night. Inspired by the tag sketch for January on Scrapbooking Galicia, and even more so by the encouraging comments of their DT, I took some old cardboard, cut the tag and started to work on it. My first try was miserable, I have to admit, and I peeled have of the stuff off again to save the background. I redid it and I think it´s turned out okay. I am looking forward to doing more tags in different sizes and shapes and themes. This one is called Paris - the city of love > inspired by the hearts on the sketch and upcoming Valentine´s Day. (I meant to show you a before/after of my tag, but when I was downloading the photos I realized I had a card error and there were no photos:()

Monatsstarter Januar - Scrapbook Werkstatt

On the blog of Scrapbook Werkstatt I came across this lovely sketch which I worked on last night. Yes, the original sketch has a placeholder for three photos, but I really wanted to focus on just the one photo and put patterned paper instead of another two photos. My layout is called WINTER and although the photo is two years old already, I still found it scrap-worthy:)

Verwendetes Material / Supplies used / Material usado:
Cardstock: Bazzzill Basics; Patterned Paper: Basic Grey, Fruitcake "Snowed In/Winter Mint", Google Images "Nostalgic Winter", Company Brochure; Sticker Hot Cocoa: Karen Foster Design "Playing in Snow"; Rub-Ons: Royal & Langnickel "Winter Sentiments"; Stitching Template: Bazzill In Stitch´z "Granny Stitches"; Embroidery Thread: LNN; Border: Art Talent "Autocollantes Frontière"; Snowflakes: Casa; Ribbon: Rayher "Winter time"; Brads & Eyelets: Artemino; Pen: Sakura "Gelly Roll Metallic"; Photo Paper: Ilford Professional

Sketch No 1 (Scrapbooking Galicia)

I have created a layout following a sketch offerd by Scrapbooking Galicia for the month of January.

Verwendetes Material / Supplies used / Material usado:

Kiddy Crafts

Butterflies & Dragonflies

For the past week I had to come up with dozens of mini projects for my five-year-old while she was on Christmas break. A few weeks ago I bought this brilliant template by Hot Off The Press "Butterflies & Dragonflies" and immediately had a lot of ideas of how to use it. My daughter enjoyed picking different papers, tracing the butterflies, putting them together and finally arranging them on a background. I only had to help her to cut them out as those lines and curves are still too difficult for her. In the end we crafted two almost identical pictures for herself and her best friend. A lovely template and there are still so many projects to realize with it.

Hace unas semans compré esta plantilla fenomenal de Hot Off The Press "Butterflies & Dragonflies" (Mariposas y Libélulas).

Our butterflies & dragonflies project

Another easy-to-do project is creating a "cress flower". Cress seeds grow fast and in the one week we saw it grow a lot. We cut a flower shope from old cardboard, colored it, stuck a lid of an old jarr in the middle, put some cotton inside for the seeds to grow. Now all we needed was a bit of water and some patience!

Scrap-it-Lift-it: Lift No 8

Scrap-it-Lift-it: Lift No 8

This is the first time I am participating in a Scrap-it-Lift-it challenge. I tried to stick very close to the original layout, however, I added another personal challenge: Except for the black cardboard, scissors and glue, I could only work with Christmas cards and their respective envelopes (including stamps, stickers, etc.). Some of our friends will find part of their cards here:) A couple of years ago I started to get rid (or recycle) Christmas cards because it was just insane to keep every single card every single year ... that´s boxes full of cards. I love to receive Christmas cards and I certainly cherish and display them over the holiday season, and it is wonderful to hear from those that we otherwise would have lost touch with, but at the beginning of the new year, all cards need to go (except of course if letters, photos, etc. were included).

Scrap The Mag - Challenge #11

Scrap The Mag - Challenge #11

Ever since I found this beautiful Africa inspired paper by BoBunny called Safari a couple of weeks ago I had this layout title in my mind: "The Dream of Africa". One day, I thought, I will scrap this paper and title. And guess what, I looked at Scrap The Mag this morning and their challenge fits just what I had in mind for the layout. So, it was to be today and not some distant day in the future ... I love to be given a challenge, also in terms of deadline! Otherwise I keep on postponing all the time.

The challenge is to get inspired by a magazine page to create either a layout or a card and it does not matter "what" inspires you from the magazine, be it the color combination, the layout, the text, the photo or the illustrations. It is important though to recognize a connection between the two.

In my layout I tried to keep close to the color scheme, brownish background, pink letters; I also adopted the idea of the tree, however, in my layout I changed the type of tree. In addition, I also put the footage in the bottom part of the layout using different fonts/font sizes. And last, the title, though I used it in singular instead of plural.

Verwendetes Material / Supplies used / Material usado:
Cardstock: Structured linen paper (no brand name), Ursus Struktura Mini "Inspirations"; Patterned Paper: BoBunny "Safari"; Stamping: Color Box Classic Pigment Cat´s Eyes "Ruby Satin", Memento: "Rich Cocoa", Buchstabenstempel: Artemino,  Artemino "Clear" Embossing Powder, Aladine "Embossing Powder Rose Layette"; Magazine clipping altered with "Crackle Accents" by Rangers Inkssentials; Charms: Craftime "Paw Print Charms"; Muse Tokens: Jim Holtz "Ideology"; Splitpens and Eyelets by Artemino; Computer font: Arial; Photo Paper: Ilford Professional; Boarder Punch: EK Success
